What’s your name and where do you come from?
Robin MacLean from Canada's National Capital - Ottawa.
Do you have a family and what’s your profession?
Yes I do, a husband (also a PLT member) and a daughter who is just shy of 6 years old.
My profession - I'm a Financial Transformation consultant, helping business achieve more efficiencies in their back office.
How did you get introduced to PLT?
The great Brenda Ross promoted it on our local Tri training buddies facebook site.
Who is your coach?
None other than Paul!
Name 3 things that sum up your thoughts on your coach
1. Dry sense of humour (love it!)

Are you engaged in regular exercise/a sport?
Yes - hockey and downhill skiing in the winter, triathlon (swim, bike, run) the rest of the year.
How did you find your PLT onboarding experience & community experience?
Awesome! Super welcoming and always motivating. I especially appreciate the words of advise when you are struggling, and knowing others have been there.
What dieting programs had you tried previously and what makes PLT standout from previous programs?
I honestly never really dieted previously, except for the months leading up to joining PLT, when last spring I started with the online weight watchers program. The program worked but I had plateaued and the reason for PLT was to get a program that was tailored just for me, but still online. I have a hectic enough schedule, I don't want to be having to go to in person check ins at specific appointment times.
What was your driving reason for joining PLT?
I wanted my athletic body back, after years of hotel living for work, I had put on a lot of weight. While I left my previous consulting firm so I didn't have to travel as much anymore, I needed to put in extra effort to lose what I gained.
How much weight have you lost with PLT?
What non-scale successes have you found since joining PLT?
When returning to running this spring (took winter off) I could go a lot faster with the same level of effort.
How have you increased your nutritional education since PLT?
I have a much better understanding of the need for protein, and sadly, the lack of carbs I need.
What's 1 piece of advice would you give to people considering joining PLT or new members?
Be patient and be consistent, while some see progress overnight, not all do, but that's ok, with the right effort you will see results.

What is one British food you can't find in the US that you miss the most?

When moving to America the biggest concern was for the lack of an Indian curry! In the UK it's like ordering pizza. Families will generally eat a curry weekly and there's usually a restaurant or takeout on every street.You can get a curry here in Pittsburgh but its a 20 min drive and so it ends up being cold by the time you get home! It was a serious discussion before we moved (lol), but since then my diet has changed considerably, during my weight loss journey, and now it's not even part of my world. When I visit England I'll usually eat 1-2 but I honestly don't enjoy them as I used to. My palate has changed and they're a lot of calories! I still order in HP Sauce and Marmite though, 2 staples of English life!
The thing I miss most, and it never changes, is my Mums roast dinner on a Sunday! Nothing beats Mums cooking and her Sunday roast is EPIC!
